School & Sports Anns/Cancellations
The Harlan County High School Site Base Council will have a regular meeting on Tuesday December 3 at 4:00 pm in the HCHS Media Center. Everyone is invited to attend.
Harlan County Christian School is excited to announce that it will again present and maintain a Christmas Light Display at the Putney Shriners’ Fairgrounds during the Christmas season. Many people travel out of town during the holidays to view these kinds of displays, and we are happy that one will be available locally for Harlan and surrounding counties. To sponsor a light display, please call (606) 574-1900. The display will open to the public nightly, except Wednesdays and Sundays, beginning Friday, November 29, and will run through Saturday, December 21, during the hours of 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The light display will be open to the public on Wednesday, December 18th, to give youth groups and church groups an opportunity to visit the display as part of their church services. Enjoy caroling, candy canes, roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate around the campfire. What an awesome way to celebrate the Christmas season! The Harlan County Shriners will also be giving free train rides from 6PM to 10 PM on December 13th and 14th. In case of rain, the train ride will be cancelled but the light display will remain open. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Harlan County Christian School.
