WCPM & REAL COUNTRY
PROGRAMMING FOR WCPM:
Daily Monday – Friday: Live Broadcast from 6am-8:50am. Local DJ’s bring the best in Current along with some Past country (focusing more on the top songs of the day). We report on local news, obituaries, and events throughout the day with updates several times a day, and the airing of the WYMT 6am and 4pm news broadcasts. On Sundays from 7am-2:30pm, enjoy Southern and Contempory Gospel music throughout the day as well as various religious broadcasts from area churches and special religious programs such as Words of Life and Viewpoint. We also help up and coming new artists who stop by the station on their radio tours, bringing our listeners a taste of what’s to come in country music, and letting them be a part of the artists journey.
PROGRAMMING FOR REAL COUNTRY:
Daily: The Midday Request Show … Now in its 10th year, The Midday Request Show is one of Real Country’s most popular programs and receives thousands of listener calls from New York to California. Host Kris Wilson’s warm personality has made her a consistent Real Country favorite. The show features a tight balance of requested new and classic songs between 2-3 p.m. EST.
Weekly: Real Country Saturday Night … This show goes further back than most request shows and is THE show for Real Country fans! We take a lot of requests and dig deep to find the ones that are truly unique. We have been archiving interviews for the past ten years so it’s not unusual to hear audio from Merle Haggard, George Jones, Charley Pride and Marty Robbins.
Broadway and Church Street: Sunday nights Real Country features the music and stars of the 50s and 60s, the golden age of Country music. Every story has a beginning and Country music’s is at the corner of Broadway and Church streets in Nashville. Looking down Broadway, you can still see where the young artists of the 50s and 60s once walked to perform at Tootsies Orchid Lounge and the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. Looking up Church Street, you will see the Mother Church where those who could make it on Broadway played on Saturday night at The Grand Ole Opry.
A Real Country Christmas (Seasonal): Thirty six solid hours of Christmas hosted by the stars who made the music famous over the years. Past hosts include Tracy Lawrence, Patty Loveless, John Conlee, Ricky Skaggs, Lee Ann Womack, John Anderson, Don Williams, Glen Campbell, Mel Tillis, Charley Pride, Moe Bandy, Statler Brothers, Oak Ridge Boys, Merle Haggard, Randy Travis and Chris Young.
NASCAR Speedway Report: A two-minute update on auto racing across America during NASCAR season hosted by Kris Wilson.
